Wand making and dancing to celebrate spring

Visitors to Chyan Community Field at Halvasso near Penryn have celebrated the arrival of summer with a Beltane festival blessed by sun.
Beltane is an ancient Gaelic fertility and fire festival held in May to herald the changing of the season from spring to summer.
Over 150 people spent the day surrounded by nature in the organic forest garden enjoying music and the traditional pursuits of Morris dancing performed by the local troop Tatters followed by a dance around the maypole.
There was also plenty to keep the kids entertained with crafts, face painting and wand making lessons.
Stephanie Jackson said: "We had a lovely and very successful day.
"Although Cornwall is a rural place, many people do not get the chance to connect with nature when they live in towns and the field is a lovely place to escape and a great place for children to run around."
